Are you looking into document management? If so then you need to think about how you are going to capture your documents. In other words, how are you going to convert your paper document into an electronic file? If you were planning on using your copier you need to know that each copier company has its own document management system. Xerox has Scanflow, Kyocera has KyoCapture, Lexmark has DocMP, HP has NetDocuments, Ricoh has DocumentMall etc. Most of these systems are only compatible with one brand.
A good document management system won’t restrict you to a single brand. It should be able to capture, index, store and retrieve your data in a simple manner. If you have been looking at a document management system that only lets you add devices that are specific to it’s brand then you may be looking in the wrong place.
